Overview

The Writing Studies minor offers students the opportunity to develop writing skills that are both practical and adaptable for a variety of real-world situations. Focusing on professional, rhetorical, and digital writing, the minor emphasizes how to craft clear, persuasive, and effective communication for academic, professional, and public audiences. Students gain hands-on experience through projects, research, and multimodal assignments, learning to analyze, adapt, and shape their writing for diverse purposes. By completing this minor, students enhance their critical thinking and communication abilities, strengthen their professional portfolios, and build versatile skills that are valuable in virtually any career path.

 

Minor Requirements

To complete the Writing Studies minor, students will take 5 ENG courses (15 credit hours) that focus on composition theory, rhetorical studies, and/or professional writing. Two courses must be at the 300-level.
