Campus: Westchester
In this program, students complete both the Bachelor of Science in Health Science and the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) in five years. The undergraduate degree requirements can be met on both the New York City and Pleasantville campuses. The graduate courses in Occupational Therapy will be completed on the Pleasantville campus.
Students will get a strong foundation in health science including an understanding of the role of social determinants of health that contribute to health disparities and how to mitigate these effects through planning and programming. The degree will position them for successful careers working with diverse patient populations in a variety of healthcare settings and prepare them to be competent and ethical Occupational Therapy practitioners who maximize clients’ quality of life and occupation engagement through technology, evidence-based, client-centered, and inter-professional practice.
Students are encouraged to declare their interest in the dual degree program when they are in the sophomore year of their BS in Health Science and then apply for acceptance into the joint degree program with the MSOT during their junior (third year). Upon completion of this program, graduates will receive the verification statement required to sit for the sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) licensing exam.
