Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP Certificate

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies program is for the master’s-prepared nurse practitioner with certification in another specialty, or a master’s-prepared nurse who wishes to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

One year of psychiatric mental health nursing is required.

Applicants with pre-licensure master of nursing degrees may be required to take additional courses from the graduate nursing common core curriculum to meet all program requirements, if equivalent coursework was not completed in their prior masters program.

1 Required for all non-nurse practitioners enrolled in CAGS. Credit for NURS 682 and NURS 640 will only be accepted if the courses were finished within two years of starting clinical practice. If a student's original Advanced Pharmacology and/or Advanced Physical Assessment courses were completed more than two years before clinical placements, they must exhibit clinical proficiency through a test-out option.
