Badges

What are badges at Pace University?

Each badge at Pace University represents courses and/or experiences that teach skills and competencies which are represented by digital badges.

Digital badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome. We have partnered with Credly Acclaim and their digital badging platform so you can manage, share, and verify your competencies digitally.

Each badge you earn is an opportunity to digitally share and celebrate an accomplishment with your network that is simple, trusted, and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers with concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you are now capable of.

How do Pace’s badge programs work?

There Are 3 Types of Digital Badges at Pace:

  • Credit Badges
  • Non-Credit Badges
  • Nactel Badges

Credit and Non-Credit Badges

When you’re looking at our badge offerings, you will notice that badges are identified as “credit” or “non-credit.” What is the difference?

A Credit badge provides students with a credential to acknowledge skills, competencies, accomplishments, and the mastery of knowledge through selected Pace credit courses. Students will also earn college credits that can be applied to a degree or certificate and will receive a letter grade on their Pace University transcript at the completion of the semester.

Non-credit badges are tied to courses and/or experiential opportunities which cannot typically be applied to degrees (although in some special circumstances they can) and instead may award Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) and Professional Development Credits (PDC’s).

Each Credit and non-Credit badge has its own criteria for earning a badge.

Nactel Badges

Nactel Badges (The National Alliance for Communications Technology Education and Learning) are badges specifically related to Telecommunications study. Click here for more information about Nactel Badges.

How do I apply for a Credit or Non-Credit Badge?

It is best to express your interest in earning a particular badge by sending an email to the contact person listed for that badge on the Badge Offerings page. Together, you can map out a plan for completing the specified criteria for the badge.

For general questions about applying for a badge, please email badges@pace.edu.

How will I receive a Credit or Non-Credit badge?

The process is slightly different if you are receiving a credit or non-credit badge.

Upon completing the required courses for a credit badge, you will be asked to submit a Badge Completion Form (DOCX) to badges@pace.edu.

Upon completing the requirements for non-credit badges, your name will be submitted on your behalf by Faculty or Staff to badges@pace.edu to request a digital badge.
