The Bachelor of Science in Health Science (HSC) program provides students with a broad understanding of the healthcare system and an interdisciplinary foundation in the health sciences. This program integrates coursework in the basic sciences with specialized health-related studies, preparing students for diverse career opportunities in healthcare settings. It also provides a strong academic foundation for those planning to pursue post-graduate professional programs, such as physician assistant studies, pre-licensure nursing, and other health practitioner fields.

The program requires 120 credits, including 45-60 credits of health science coursework that allow students to focus their studies in health-related areas that align with their professional interests. All students will complete 30 credits of foundational health science core curriculum, along with 15-30 credits of coursework in one or both of the health-related concentrations: Global Health and Health Policy & Advocacy.

Graduates of the program are prepared for roles in hospitals, private medical offices, government and community health agencies, global health organizations, and other healthcare settings. Career pathways may include healthcare administration, health education, and more.

DEGREE COMPLETION CRITERIA

To complete the Bachelor of Science in Health Science, students must meet the following academic requirements:

Pre-Health Students (Pre-Nursing and Pre-Physician Assistant Tracks): Maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 or higher throughout the program
General Track Students: Maintain a CGPA of 2.50 or higher throughout the program
Pass all health science major courses with a grade of "C" or higher

Note: Completion of the health science program does not guarantee admission to a physician assistant, accelerated nursing program, or any other post-baccalaureate program. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Health Science must apply to those programs, meet program/institution-specific requirements, and compete with all other applicants.
