Mathematics LC-A (MATA)
This learning community will integrate the solution of mathematical problems and formulas with the written presentation of these solutions. This will include basic written responses to the presentation of more complex reports and articles. Students will also extrapolate real life situations and apply them to mathematical formulae. The curricula of these courses is designed to develop critical thinking and interdisciplinary writing; to develop and sustain the various patterns of expository writing; and to develop research skills by teaching the preparation of a research paper. Students will be able to interact with each other and with instructors through Blackboard. Paired instructors will often be present and interact with each other and the class. Student' skills will be enhanced through the use of the Computer Lab.
